621 Gallery's All-media National Juried Exhibitions

The first annual All-media National Juried Exhibition was held in June 2006. The exhibition was open to any artists living in the United States. Finalists were awarded $1,000 in prizes, in addition to merit and cash awards. The "Best in Show" won a spot in the 2006-2007 exhibition season.

Jurors

Roald Nasgaard is the Chair of the Department of Art at Florida State University, where he teaches criticism, curating and art history. He holds a doctorate from the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU. Dr. Nasgaard previously served as the Chief Curator and Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto. His extensive writings on 20th century Canadian and international art include Pleasures of Sight and States of Being: Radical Abstract Painting since 1990; The Mystic North: Symbolist Landscape Painting in Northern Europe and North America, 1890-1940; and Gerhard Richter: Paintings.

Omar Thompson currently teaches ceramics and ceramic sculpture at Florida A&M University. He holds a B.A. degree in Art Education from Florida A&M University and an M.F.A. in Ceramics from Ohio State University. His national exhibition list includes The High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Stanford University, and the Birmingham Civil Rights Museum. He recently designed a ceramic wall mural for the Martin Luther King Jr. Center/John Hope Elementary School in Atlanta, GA. His work can be found in many private and corporate collections such as Atlanta Life Insurance, Hot Face Cosmetics, Motown Records, Anheuser Busch, NBA luminary Elliot Perry, Cassandra Mills, and Singer/writer India Arie.
