Artist Statement
My current body of work focuses on color, process, and scale. I am quite fond of discarded objects and often feel compelled to rescue garbage, trinkets and tchotchkes. Many of the materials I use are found. My studio practice is playful and experimental. At the core of my work are themes of identity, excess and synesthetic experience.
I am currently working on a long-term project, Body of Color. This project aims to highlight various colors for their unique characteristics and connotations. It is my goal to reinforce the sensory experience surrounding familiar tints, shades and hues. Thus far I have embodied the colors Blue, White, Pink, Red and Beige. Each with their own personhood and experimental goals.
For this installation I am highlighting Pink.
I would like to extend a special thanks to Larry McDonough, Elisabeth Sclawy-Adelman, Carla de Jesus Jerez, Wendy Gardner and Josh Byrnes for their continued support and guidance.
