OUR COLLABORATION
Our Climate is an environmental nonprofit that strives to mobilize and empower the generations most affected by climate change. Next month (March 2021), Our Climate Florida will be demanding bold, climate action from Florida’s legislators. With an emphasis on art activism, their organization will be constructing a manatee-shaped mosaic to call attention to the detrimental impacts of the climate crisis in Florida. The scale of this project requires people from all over the state to come together to decorate tiles that artistically express their role in this movement.
621 Gallery’s shared values of climate change with Our Climate has brought them in collaboration to engage with the public through art activism. Bringing social change through art is an important form of communication within a community to further advocate a message. During the month of February, our tile-making workshop will provide (sustainable) supplies available for all guests to create their unique tiles. 621 encourages visitors to take time to think about why they care about climate change and what fuels their passions for climate action. These tiles will then be collected for the large scale manatee mosaic that will be constructed by Our Climate in March.
